SIGNS OF HAIL DAMAGE

temp-post-image

The most common cause of roof damage is hail. Unfortunately, it’s not always easy to determine damage. These are signs to look for and the steps you should take next.

Look for Leaks, Crack & Holes

The most obvious signs your roof is damaged is if there are:

• Loose shingles in your yard after the storm

• Immediate leaks in your roof or ceiling

• Cracks and holes in your roof

• Dents in the shingles, flashing and gutters on your roof

If you aren’t sure whether your roof is damaged or not or you can’t get on your roof to look, there are other ways you can tell. If other parts of your property are destroyed, then your roof probably is, too. These parts include fencing, siding, landscaping, windows and skylights. Because not all signs are readily apparent, it’s best to have a professional inspect your roof to prevent leaks and structural damage from showing up later.

Call the Experts

If your roof is damaged, take notes about the storm and photos of your roof. Call a certified contractor of hail damage to make an assessment. Then immediately file a claim with your insurance company so you can get your roof repaired quickly and free of cost. Don’t try fixing it yourself.
